"I Know Those Devils By Name" - Drabble

Drabble Jun 10, 2022

A drabble is a piece of fiction constrained to exactly one-hundred words. I use these short works to hone my brevity.

Vices of the flesh can only carry me so far.
I prefer to play with the devils.
Now I know them all by name.
Some may proclaim me a sinner and an outcast.
Am I thus a pariah?
I think not, with such fine company among the devils!

When you say demons haunt you now?
Know that I know those devils by name.
I've walked long roads, joking with them beside.
We are like friends long acquainted now.

Should you ever need to share that burden?
Let us make light work of it.
I am steeped in it too.
